Understanding, for each country, how education and skills development in tourism is generated and organised is essential for analysing international opportunities to bridge the skills gaps and improve future skills needs. Deriving from strategy and policy documents available on the tourism sector, this section focuses on strategies and policies related to the development of the professional workforce and tourism in general, broken down by country of origin.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION PACT FOR SKILLS

The European Commission is launching aPact for Skills,a shared engagement model for skills development in Europe.

Companies, workers, national, regional and local authorities, social partners, cross-industry and sectoral organisations, education and training providers, chambers of commerce and employment services all have a key role to play.

To support a fair and resilient recovery and deliver on the ambitions of thegreenanddigitaltransitions and of theEU IndustrialandSME策略,Commissioninvites public and private organisations to join forces and take concrete action to upskill and reskill people in Europe.

The Pact is the first of the flagship actions under theEuropean Skills Agendaand is firmly anchored in theEuropeanPillar of Social Rights.

The Pact was officiallylaunchedon 10 November 2020.

ICC ITALIA KNOWLEDGE SHARING PLATFORM

(In Italian) 1) Digital platform open to all (businesses and professionals) for sharing news, courses and webinars. 2) Information, training and first orientation services, best practices and models made available to support internationalization and territorial marketing. 3) Project that falls within the European “Interreg Mediterranean” program, of which the Veneto Region is the main operating partner. It consists in making available the Open Data issued by Public Administrations, workshops, virtual study visits, hackathons and events. The project includes a series of events aimed at animating the Veneto data hub to develop the culture and knowledge of open data, with particular attention to the areas of creative and cultural industries and the green economy. 4) ”Save One Seat” platform, digital tool that connects restaurateurs and customers ready to support the recovery of their trusted addresses when it will be possible to start again. The motto of the creators is to propose “tomorrow’s dinners for those who stay at home today”, creating liquidity to support the Italian restaurant sector in the short term. Customers, therefore, will be able to purchase a voucher for a restaurant lunch and consume it at the selected facility within one year of purchase.
